I was born in a little English town called Hounslow, West London. My parents moved us to Australia very soon after. Since then the East Coast of Australia has been home. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a connection to the ocean. Getting up in the early hours of the morning, meeting up with good mates and heading out in to the water was a weekend ritual. I remember picking up an underwater disposable camera on the way to the beach one morning, and snapping through the 27 exposures before a wave had even rolled through. I was hooked. It was this love that took me travelling around the world with Surfing Tours for years creating their promotional films and documenting live events. Exploring different cultures and landscapes with some amazing teams. One day out of the blue, some friends of mine asked me to film their Wedding in Queenstown, New Zealand, and were blown away with their film. From there I continued on as a Wedding Filmmaker and my passion for it has only grown over the years. I live in a big old farm house at the bottom of a Mountain near the beach, with my baby Mumma and our 3 kids. I get to travel Internationally and Australia wide to capture the most special day for the worlds best couples. Life’s good!
I’m continually inspired by the beauty of two people coming together. I search for the ‘in-between’ moments from the day, the ones filled with raw emotion, and real human connection. My filmmaking has a strong documentarian approach which allows space for real moments to unfold. My aesthetic to creating purposeful & emotionally-charged moving images, shapes the intimate character of my films. I try to distance myself as far as possible from the ‘Wedding Videographer’ stereotype, I want my couples to be reconnected to the emotion that was present on their day and to be continually moved when they re-live the day back through their video. Your Wedding Video should be an authentic representation of your day. I believe the best Wedding Videos are produced when couples are comfortable and relaxed in front of the lens. My approach is unobtrusive yet intimate. I try not to interfere with the natural flow of the day. Rather, I’m there to be present in, and document, all of the real moments in the most artistic and cinematic way. For this reason I do not take on extra camera operators, or feel there is a need for 2 or 3 video cameras on your day.
I’m based in Noosa, Sunshine Coast, however always happy to travel to Brisbane, Gold Coast and Byron Bay. I’m also available for Destination Weddings Worldwide. I offer Wedding Videography for a select number of couples each year – if you feel a connection with my work, please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you. ~ Luke
